The aim of the National Action Plan on Physical Activity for Older People (Health and Wellbeing from Physical Activity, 2013-) coordinated by the National Age Institute is to promote the equal opportunities of older people with sedentary habits to exercise in compliance with the recommendations on health-enhancing exercise. The target groups among older people have been expanded from those targeted by the Strength in Old Age programme (75+) to those about to retire (60+) and older people needing care (85+). The implementation of this programme is supported by 25 national organisations and a broad-based steering group. It invites all stakeholders to participate in its network and exchange information and good practices concerning physical activity guidance and activities and accessible and safe environments for physical activity.
The National Policy Programme for Older People’s Physical Activity
