WAU is a Finnish non-profit welfare organisation established in 2009 whose free, low-threshold clubs organise physical activity for thousands of children in over 40 locations every week. The organisation’s club, recess and holiday activities reach a total of some 10,000 children and adolescents every year. The association mainly operates at the schools the children and young people attend, promoting more active school days in a natural way.
The organisation wishes to promote children and young people’s health and social well-being through physical activity, and its long-term goal is including one hour of physical activity in each school day through recreational activities. Our funding is a combination of public and private finance. The patron of WAU is President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö. Let’s keep our children moving!
